I recently installed Dragon Age II on my computer, and it is extremely laggy and jumpy when my PC moves. Loading is fine, cutscenes are fine. I've done a little research and discovered this problem is widespread, and attempted to fix this problem - upgrading to Directx 11 (As I have an XP, that option is unavailable, so I have stayed with Directx 9), and upgrading my graphics card driver is all I've done, as I have really no idea how to fix any computer problem since I'm not familiar with the hardware and software. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Please give me detailed responses as I'm not very good with computers and I don't know much jargon. Step-by-step instructions would be much appreciated, including any links if needed.
My computer information:
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600)
- Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Dueo CPU E4500 at 2.20Ghz (2 CPUs)
- 1024MB RAM
- Directx 9
- Every other game as never had this problem before
And my graphics card:
- NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GTHow can I get Dragon Age II to run smoothly?
Your graphics card is quite good. It should be able to handle most new games with ease. Your processor seems to be over the 'minimum' system requirements to play Dragon Age 2 (according to it's steam page) but not at the 'recommended' system requirements. If you want to play other modern/new games like Dragon Age 2, you might want to get a faster new processor. However, you are just a little below the recommended (you have a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, recommended is a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad or above) and processor's are expensive. What may be a problem is that it is recomended you have DirectX 11. You might want to upgrade to Windows 7 (good decision regardless of this) to get it. If that is also too expensive/not an option, try simply upgrading your RAM or running the game on lower settings. You have 1 GB of RAM, I find that 4 GB of RAM is good enough for anything.
