Are the companions in Dragon Age II as good/memorable as in Dragon Age: Origins?

For all that I can criticize their flaws, they are all memorable characters, for good or bad. I'm going to assume you have not played yet, so will avoid major spoilers.

There is an equal amount of quest interaction with all of them. Each of them have quests you must complete, and some are just to talk to them and catch up on how their lives are going and how they are settling in. Each of them have issues. Some less than others. Some bigger than others.

Where you get an additional feel for party members is from having romanced them, or having them in the party for random banter. If they aren't in the party with a certain other character, you never hear it. They may also chime in with comments on quests, and some of their comments are unique to them.

For instance, if you don't have Merrill, Anders and Fenris in the party with you, you will never hear the often harsh comments both men can heap on Merrill. Varric likes and looks out for everyone, and his banter reflects that. Merrill and Isabela are good friends who spend time together. Anders, Carver, and your Dog (Black Emporium DLC) all hang out with Varric at The Hanged Man. Merrill is sweet natured and worries about everyone, even the party members who treat her harshly. Aveline tries to help the others when she can, but Isabela teases her all the time, and makes her crazy. If neither of them are involved with the player character, Isabela and Fenris will get involved with each other, and Anders or Fenris were involved with the player, their already bitter banter includes jealous sniping. Fenris knows the Qun and speaks the kissoth language, but prays at the Chantry, and doesn't want anyone to know - Sebastian (Exiled Prince DLC) encourages him, but can't do anything with Anders who mocks him.

The more you play with a companion, the more you learn. Are the companions in Dragon Age II as good/memorable as in Dragon Age: Origins?
They are somewhat. The really charismatic ones like Isabela and Varric I think are, because they are the funniest and most outspoken I would say, compared to someone like Fenris who is just not very major or memorable at all (Anders too)

The characters in Origins are probably easier to relate too because they seem to have more realistic stories to me, but still Isabela will always be my favoriteAre the companions in Dragon Age II as good/memorable as in Dragon Age: Origins?
They all had great potential, but for a game that spans ten years there should have been more character development. The game was rushed, you can tell a lot of companion interaction was cut. I'm hoping DLC or an expansion is released that fleshes them out more. Are the companions in Dragon Age II as good/memorable as in Dragon Age: Origins?
i dont think that they are
