Dragon Age II: High Dragon Defeat - Chapter 3?

Hi. Been struggling to defeat the High Dragon in Chapter 3 of Dragon Age II! My companions as well as myself are at high levels but I just can't seem to kill it! And I want the champion armour and that's not going to happen unless I kill the Dragon. I am a warrior, I have brought fenris along side me as a warrior, he dies almost always from the backup dragons, Aveline holds out long, but again the backup dragons eventually get her, among those fireballs from the High Dragon. Ranged companions I usually bring is Anders, He lasts surprizingly long but it's those damned backups! Varric helps out alot too. But is there a tried and tested formula to defeat the dragon that I don't know about?...Dragon Age II: High Dragon Defeat - Chapter 3?
If your having trouble, level up and come back a little later in the chapter. Also, you should use fire runes on your armor until your resistance is maxed, this helps immensely. The rest is really just making sure your tank picks up the waves of smaller dragons that spawn so that they don't thrash your party. As long as you keep running with the character that has the high dragon's aggro and your fire resistance is capped your going to be just fine.

Another thing we need to address is party build. You need 1 tank (this one HAS to be fire resistance capped. Seriously, its not optional lol), Anders (for his panacea attached abilities), and two dps (I recommend Varric for one of them). Equip frost runes on weapons where you can for a better dmg output.Dragon Age II: High Dragon Defeat - Chapter 3?
There is no real formula for it, you just need to make sure that your characters have been developed and equipped properly and it should be no problem.

I can give you a few tips though:

- Make sure that all characters have a fairly high amount of constitution.

- Give fortitude points to your warriors. (It increases their defence)

- Make sure to focus on Anders' Vengeance skill tree (pay particular attention to the Panacea branch of skills which give you the ability to resurrect party members and heal all party members at once)

- If you need to, re-allocate your party members' attribute points by giving them Maker's Sigh potions (these can be bought fairly cheaply at the Black Emporium if you have access to it.)

- Try to get as many armour upgrades for your companions as possible. (If you're having difficulty finding them, look for a location guide online)

- Keep your party balanced, seeing as you're a warrior I'd have a rogue (pick your strongest, though I'd say Varric is your best option since he's a ranged attacker), Anders as your healing mage and then either Merrill as an attacking mage or another warrior (pick the one with the best defence).

- Also, stock up on potions. :D

And that's about all I can think of, but it should be enough to get you through I hope. Good luck! :D
