in the end it is revealed to us that Hawke and the warden are gone, but, what if the warden had sacrificed himself in the battle against the archdemon from Dragon Age Origins ? what would happen then ?...i think that is a major plothole...

The ending frustrated me too. I think we deserved at least a little bit of closure. I hope they give the game a full expansion and don't try to drag it out in a bunch of little DLC.
As for the warden they have said that if you imported to Awakening the sacrifice is waived. If you didn't then I guess you are supposed to assume it is some other warden.Dragon Age II ending [ spoiler ahead ]?
