Which is better: Dragon Age or Dragon Age II?

Which one is more fun, in your opinion? What are the differences between the two? I heard the second one is more similar to the Mass Effect series, is that true?Which is better: Dragon Age or Dragon Age II?
Dragon age 2 seems more streamlined to make it more fun for casual gamers. People that are willing to think a little have fun with dragon age and dislike 2 cause it's too Easy. I am even having a hard time in part 1 on easy mode but makes me work and it's fun. I Prefer the first game but the stories for both are quite good.
The first one is much better.

Dragon Age: Origins was in development for 5 YEARS before being released. Compared to Dragon Age 2... which wasn't even in development for a year.

That alone should signify the gap in quality between the games. Another thing is that the lead developer of DA:O actually quit Bioware over the development of DA2, which he felt was a huge disappointment.

2 is by no means a horrible game, not even an entirely bad one. But following in the heels of Dragon Age: Origins, it's an incredibly disappointing game. It's much more oriented towards action. Except the combat is extremely repetitive. The plot is trudgingly slow, transparent, and uninteresting. Shamelessly recycled areas. You'll spend around 40 hours kill waves of useless unimportant thugs inside ONE CITY, and so on.

It's a lot closer to Mass Effect in that your character is a human with a voice. The first game, your character had no spoken lines beyond a few responses in combat. (Everyone else has voices though). You can't customize which race you are playing as in DA2, you'll always have to play as a human. Your party members are much more lively in that they talk to each other a lot more, which is good. But the rest of the game is still but a short and shallow step in the wrong direction compared to it's predecessor.

That's because DA:O was a great, great game. DA2, is not bad. It's not horrible. I did enjoy my playthrough of it. But the entire experience made me wish it was more like DA:O, and sometimes made me wish I was playing DA:O instead. There's a reason why this game has such a mixed reception when the former title received almost universal praise.

That being said, I consider DA2 to be more "accessible" and more people may have fun playing it than DA:O.Which is better: Dragon Age or Dragon Age II?
If your looking for a bigger world better story and more tactical approaches to fights then go with dragon age origins.I prefer this game much more.1.You get pick from about 7 backstorys that effect the entire game.2.you get to pick from 3 diffrent races Human,Elfs and Dwarfs. In dragon age 2 you do not get that option.3.The characters are so much more developed in dragon age origins they are not boring or bland. There is a reason i finished dragon age origins 4 times and havent beaten dragon age 2 once the reason being Dragon Age 2 doesnt capture you into the story like the 1st one nothing makes you want to explore and there is very few looking armor and weapons and most are just diffrent colors. So overall i would reccomend Dragon Age Origins much more than Dragon Age 2
Most people think Dragon Age Origins is the better game. I prefer Dragon Age II. The differences:

- Origins is a more hardcore game. There's more customization and more RPG features overall.

- Dragon Age II has a much less clich茅 syoryline. Origins basically copy pasted "generic fantasy storytelling 101" while Dragon Age II is a low fantasy game which focuses on the less clich茅 aspects of the Dragon Age lore. Origins is about a mindless horde attacking a fantasy version of medieval Europe. The moment it starts you already know how it's gonna end. Dragon Age II is a personal story about family mixed with political conflicts and grey morality.

- Dragon Age Origins is broken from a technical point of view. Crashes and one minute load screens are not uncommon once you reached pretty far into the game. Dragon Age II has three second load times on PC. The graphics are also a huge improvement with DirectX 11 support and more consistent framerates.

- Origins takes about 40 hours to complete without sidequests. It took me 28 hours to complete the sequel.

- The characters in Dragon Age II are better. Not just the party members. In Origins NPCs were talking props. They've been given much more depth. Romance has also improved. You could win people over in Origins by giving them gifts. They were so shallow that they would have sex with you after you gave them 100 animal bones or rotten half-eaten cakes as gifts. This has been fixed in DA2.

- Dragon Age II suffers from lazy level design. If you enter a cave it's very likely to be the same cave you will see dozens of times throughout the game.

- Dragon Age II is also too easy. Combat is more satisfying though.

- Dragon Age II has better music. Same composer though.

- Dragon Age II has a voiced protagonists. It makes it easier to connect with them. The protagonist in Origins would just stare with a bland expression on their face.

- Both games are flawed. Dragon Age Origins has more flaws.Which is better: Dragon Age or Dragon Age II?
Definitely the first one.

DA2 is really boring. Crap story, crap characters, crap dialogue, crap voice acting, crap quests. It all takes place in one dull looking city that is extremely small so you'll be seeing the same places OVER and OVER again. Such a disappointment compared to the original. As for it being similar to ME, it is a bit with the whole dialogue system, recruitable party members and romances but thats about it. ME outclasses DA2 by miles.
Dragon Age was a lot better than Dragon Age 2. No contest.
