The "Dragon Age" series has been one of the best video game series' I have ever played. I loved how in "Dragon Age: Origins" that there were so many choices you could make, all the places you can go to, and the story was incredible. Then I got "Dragon Age II". I thought that game was pretty good, but it could have been WAY better if it weren't so rushed (i.e., repetitive maps, not-as-epic story, lack of adventure, etc.). But I still liked it, overall.
Because I finished the second one so recently, I have been pumped for "Dragon Age III". I have been researching and took notes. I believe that BioWare is going in the right direction so far, but we can never be too sure. So, here are my notes:
- BioWare is trying to fuse the good elements of the previous two games into the third one
- Combat will require better-thinking and planning, other than repetitive finger pressing (*cough* "Dragon Age II")
- The world is going to be much larger than the previous two games, saying that one map is four to five times the size of Ferelden (the map of the first one). The game will also be more open-world, like "Skyrim" (great game)
- Apparently, multiplayer might be added to "Dragon Age III". Here's the link: http://kotaku.com/5863668/surprise-dragon-age-getting-multiplayer
- One main plot will be an all-out war between the templars and the mages.
- Neither the Warden from "DA:O" and Hawke from "DA2" will return as the protagonist in "DA3". Instead, there will be a new protagonist. But, because of how "DA2" ended, Hawke and the Warden might have very large roles in "DA3" (that would be AWESOME!!!)
- Save file imports have also been confirmed by BioWare
I think that this is BioWare's chance to save "Dragon Age". If the third one is the best in the series, then I will forgive them for rushing "Dragon Age II".
However, I want to see what you all think. What will, in your opinion, make "Dragon Age III" the best in the series? Which characters should return (I'd like to see more cameos)? And questions like that. I would like detailed answers, not just a one-sentence answer.
Thanks! What will make Dragon Age III successful?
The only way of saving the saga is the return of Morrigan (with Claudia Black voice). In fact, she is Bioware's ace in the hole.
The war between Mages and Templars is only the scenario of the real conflict: Morrigan VS Flemeth.
You will have to choose one of those 2 paths. The Warden will be imported from Awakening or Witch Hunt and Hawke from DA 2. Both will make some kind of cameo, but I hope the Warden will have a better role because I didn't like Hawke at all.
Sandal is the clue (this time must be a companion) and Sten will be back but as an "enemy" (the same way as Loghain was).
Orlais seems to be the most relevant area this time, and Leliana will be a follower this time.
Anyway, the only thing that has been confirmed is that Bioware is dreaming with Morrigan.
Inon Zur will be satisfied this time, considering he will be the composer,as always.
6 different origins for the new character in the saga. No more Mass-Effect dialogue style! Strategic combat design, graphics improved. In my opinion, they should return to DA:Origins' appearance which looks far better in PC (with some mods).
Anyway, I only enjoyed Dragon Age Origins. I played through DA 2 without the feeling of the masterpiece that was the first one. What will make Dragon Age III successful?
i just for the love of god dont want them to copy the elder scrolls in any way it is such a good idea and an insta success but i want them to think up their own ideasWhat will make Dragon Age III successful?
then it will be a best seller game
Both Dragon Age games were good, I like them both but for different reasons.
The first game was more tactical, had more customization and the story was more epic. The second game had much better AI, looked better, and had a better balance between dialogue-action-exploration. I also think the gamelength in DA2 was much better, I don't like games that are too long, to me that reduces their replay value.
For DA3:
I don't care about open-world, that is not what makes an RPG.
What makes an RPG are interactive dialogues, a strong storyline, and some character customizations.
The problem with open-world is that it can make the main story feel very disjointed which is how I feel about the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. So I don't really want to see a large open-world as in the Skyrim games, I think the existing DA system is much better.
I like that the combat will be more tactical, I'm hoping they got some inspiration from Dark Souls. Origins had good tactical play but the AI were really dumb, in DA2 the AI was smart but you lost the tactical play. I'm hoping for some kind of combination between Origins and DA2, I don't like babysitting my AI crew but I want the gameplay for my own character to be tactical.
I don't care about multiplayer myself, waste of space.
The main plot sounds great, I was hoping for something like that, something epic.
A problem with "middle" games like DA2 is that the storylines are usually not as epic as the first and final games in that series, look at Mass Effect, Gears of War, and Assassin's Creed for example.
A new protagonist is good, this is something they did really well in both DA games. I can't see them messing up this part.
What will make the game successful for me:
1. a strong storyline
2. more tactical combat
3. fun character customizations
In other words, nothing dramatically different from the other games, just fine-tunings.
