Thanks man, for posting such content in this thread.

I like your games and your taste of choosing games

Good Luck and grab your hands on the first copy as fast as you can (I will recommend www.Amazon.com, you can order the games before the release, I know it cost some $$$ but its good to have something before others get it)

XDGames Of 2011 (My Personal Picks16 games)?
I'm looking forward to Mortal Kombat, the others I don't care about. Also, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Why is everyone so gay about Call of Duty Black ops. Its not THAT good. I have it.

  • What PC game should i get?

I have an Alienware Aurora (vanilla) so i think i can run pretty much lots of games' I have:

    Mass Effect I%26amp;II

    Dragon Age I%26amp;II

    Civilization IV

    Empire Earth 2

    Fallout 3

    Black %26amp; White 2

I quite like first person shooters, while having an option to custimize like Mass Effect and Fallout, but i don't like COD games. I love RPG games. I dont like Horror games and Tactical games expect for Civilization. I have about 拢50 to get a game/games.What PC game should i get?
Perhaps GTA: San Andreas and samp (multiplayer)

    That never gets old ;)
Mass Effect 1+2 are very high quality and fun games. Dragon age 1 is great but the 2nd one will leave you a little disappointed. Fallout 3 isn't for everyone and I have no idea about the other games.

Get the Mass Effect games! Plus Mass Effect 3 comes out later this year so you will be ready. Hope this helps. What PC game should i get?
Get Borderlands Game of the Year Edition, comes with extra dlc, its a shooter/rpg open world, you can drive, it has multiplayer, I heard good things about it.
Man, if you like RPG's I suggest you check out "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion". If you get it now you'll have just enough time to finish it before the next installment of the series comes out this upcoming November. What PC game should i get?
Check out sebestimated.com they have tons of pc games
Mass effect and dragon age are both from the same creators... Bioware.. Def go with them as the story line for each is incredible
play runescape. www.runescape.com its 5$ and its the most popular RPG game

Help me build <$1000 Sc2 Gaming Rig?

I'm currently building a dedicated Gaming Rig optimized just for Sc2 and my budget is around $1000. I prefer to keep it under $1000 but it can go up to maximum of $1500 and doesn't matter how long my Gaming PC lasts if it's worth the money in the long-run.

I want to make sure I don't get below 60 fps when playing Sc2 because I'm a very competitive player. So is Intel i5 2400 powerful enough to keep doing 60+ fps when playing Sc2 in intensive settings? e.g. ultra graphic, 4 vs 4 and 200/200 supply.

I'm going to use a single monitor in 1920x1080 resolution. And I'm going to play Sc2, DotA 2 and HoN majority of the time. I will also try out other games like LoL, Skyrim, Dragon Age II, GW 2, Tera, WoW and Diablo III.

I'm planning to buy these components:

    CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 $195 鈥?PCCG

    Mobo: ASRock H61 U3S3 $77 鈥?PCCG

    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3(1600?) $65 鈥?PCCG

    HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ $54 - PCCG

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC 1GB $255 鈥?PCCG

    Case: Antec 300 $58 鈥?PCCG

    PSU: Antec Neo Eco 520W $69 鈥?PCCG

    Total: $773 + $74 shipping = $847

I'm trying to get everything from this site: www.pccasegear.com so that my shipping fee will stay the same.

It's a bit too under budget but:

    1. this Gaming Rig is going to be sufficient for competitive Sc2 gaming.

    2. my next upgrade will likely be GPU first then CPU. So I won't need to replace the Mobo, RAM, PSU or Case for a long time.

    3. I can just upgrade to ivy bridge when 2400 becomes obsolete from the $124 that I saved.

    4. It's only going to be played in 1920x1080 resolution on a single monitor.

So there's no reason for me to pay extra $124 to go for the 2500K setup since it would probably only last maximum of 1 year longer. But by then I would already be upgrading my 2400 to ivy which will be much more powerful than 2500K for a cheaper price.

So do you agree with this setup been cost effective? Do you have suggestions for better components?

With this much saving I could probably shell out $124 to get 2500K but it's not worth it is it?

    Any help is appreciated, cheers.

    Note:

    - I know that 1600 RAM won't benefit from H61 Mobo, but that's the only good value RAM I can find from PCCG.

    - I'm getting 560Ti instead of HD6950 since I heard that Blizzard games performs much better on NVIDIA Graphics card.Help me build %26lt;$1000 Sc2 Gaming Rig?
this is a good setup (could be a copy of mine).

as the ASRock H61 U3S3 support the K series Sandy Bridge processors it will make sense to get the i5-2500K, it's not $124 more but only $24 ($195 vs. $219).

your setup is missing a CD/DVD burner and the operating system, unless you have these already.

    ram substitute: G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL (2x4GB) DDR3 .. $55
    http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main鈥?/a>

    edit
the psu Antec Neo Eco 520W is absolutely sufficient despite other statements. the power consumption of this computer is 400W under full load (100%), including an i5-2500K overclocked to 4.2Ghz.
Try going to Newegg.com, they have good warranties, they're cheap, and they have bundle options.

Also, you're buying some things you don't really NEED to get if all you're playing is SC2. I mean, you can if you really want to, but 8GB of ram? You won't need more than 4GB. Also, you may want to up the wattage on that power supply, 600 or so will last you a while. Lastly, I don't know how many cores or Ghz your processor is (kinda new to those lol), but you should get at least a 2.6Ghz dual core or a 2.4Ghz quad core, with the quad being the better choice.Help me build %26lt;$1000 Sc2 Gaming Rig?
it will be fine EXCEPT for the PSU ND THE hd6950 IS BETTER / 750 watt PSU is needed
Okay you need to calm the **** down... because for 1. ITS JUST A GOD DAMN GAME STOP BEING COMPETITIVE AND ENJOY IT! 2. my GTX550 Ti handles the game on extreme... but I only play it on ultra cause theirs no difference... However 560 good choice. 3. Dude... Don't disrespect the 2500K I have that processor and omg its so awesome and worth it! 4. Stop calling it a rig its a stupid name.. and looks super unprofessional 5. your power supply is way to low like I said I'm not running hard things like you and I gotta run a 600W PSU 6. 8GB waste of money %26gt;.%26gt; 6GB will do.... but other then that nice computer BUILD not rig =.=Help me build %26lt;$1000 Sc2 Gaming Rig?
looks pretty good. be wary of the power supply, although it should be ok if youre not OC'ing or XFire or anything...

also, im assuming that youve come from Whirlpool probably? if not, stick to Whirlpool, they know so much stuff its so intense, alot more than most people on here (including me! lol)

but yeah looks like a pretty good build. my reccomendations would be an antec neo eco (min 520 id say) and only 1333hz is needed, 4gb is pretty good

rule of the thumb on a gaming is to spend all your pennies on the GPU, and the GPU should cost between 1.5 and 2X the cost of the CPU. your build above will cover that OK

also id buy a HAF X or even something like an antec 900 or something (maybe even fractal) cause i enjoy a good spacious case that looks wicked and has really good airflow

I want to be able to play games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (when it comes out) and maybe Dragon Age II.

Please ignore the numbers in parentheses.

PLEASE TELL ME IF ANYTHING WON'T WORK!!! It's my first gaming build.

Also, any parts that are good replacements for anything I have?Is this a good build?
Yes, the 5850 is a much better video card. I would advise against the iffy brand Ultra PSU though

Here's a suggestion for a better performing build around the same price though

    Core i5 2500K CPU - $220
    ASRock P67 4 Extreme motherboard - $155
RAM - Same, although you really only need 4 GB for gaming, but might as well get 8 GB since it's cheap now - $75
Sound card - Modern motherboards have decent quality audio. You don't need one unless you have a high end speaker system to plug your PC into
    Case, DVD, Monitor - Good
Video card -Take the cash left over from the motherboard and get a Nvidia 560 GTX. Better than the 5850
Power supply. Antec or Corsair 80+ high efficiency PSU 650 watts

Hard drive. I'd definitely go Western Digital Caviar Black with 32 or 64mb cache instead of the 16mb on the Seagate

My system will play anything on 1920 x 1080 very well, and it's similar to the one I listed
    Mine is

    Core i7 2600K OC to 4.4 ghz
    8 GB DDR3 1600mhz GSkill Ripjaw RAM
WD Caviar Black 1.5 TB 64 mb cache 7200 rpm HDD
Nvidia PNY 570 GTX video card
ASRock 67 4 extreme motherboard. Great board for the price!
    NZXT Tempest EVO case
    Win 7 x64 bit
    LG Glossy no-glare 23" LCD 1920 x 1080 monitor
Sunbeam 780 watt PSU (crappy low efficiency PSU that barely gets me by)
CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ air cooler - $30, soon to be replaced with a Noctua

This is what I'm planning to buy:

    Mobo: Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 $145

    HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ $59

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC 1GB $249

    Case: Antec 300 $59

PSU: Antec Neo Eco 520W $69

    Total: $898+ $78 shipping = $976

Note: I'm buying everything from http://www.pccasegear.com because I live in Australia and they are the cheapest. Also since buying from the same online store will reduce the shipping cost.

    I have a few questions:

Q1.) I'm still not sure which RAM I should go with. I listed the best price-to-value ratio G.Skill 8GB(2x4GB) RAM from PCCG below, which RAM should I go with?:

    鈥?G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM (1600MHz 8-8-8-24 1.5v) $79

    鈥?G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-10666CL7D-8GBXH (1333MHz 7-7-7-21 1.5v) $72

    鈥?G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (1600MHz 9-9-9-24-2N 1.5v) $65

    鈥?G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL (1333MHz 9-9-9-24N 1.5v) $59

    鈥?G.Skill F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT (1333MHz 9-9-9-24 1.5v) $55

If you think I could get even better value RAM than what I'm showing above, can you can recommend me a better ones from here?: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main鈥?/a>

Q2). Also, I'm unsure about the GPU as well. Which GPU is better for the type of games I'm going to play? HD 6950 or 560Ti?

鈥?If it's 560Ti could you choose the best value one from here?: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main鈥?/a>

鈥?If it's HD 6950 could you choose the best value one from here?: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main鈥?/a>

    Note:

    - I'm getting 2500K instead of 2400 because Starcraft 2 is a very CPU intensive game and I want to maintain minimum of 60FPS all the time at least in 1v1.

    - I was thinking of getting 560Ti instead of HD6950 since I heard that Blizzard games performs much better on NVIDIA GPU.

    - I'm getting 8GB RAM since 4GB isn't much cheaper anyway and it's more future proof.

    - This Gaming Rig will only be used for gaming.

    - I'm not planning to SLI/Cross-fire on my Gaming Rig

Looks good. The only thing that came to mind for me is that your heat sink is going to be large and you should do the calculations to make sure it will fit. I took a quick glance at the reviews of the case on Newegg and found someone who said they used that heatsink. Quote "The case seems a little cramped after putting my power supply (Corsair CMPSU-650TX), heatsink (Coolermaster Hyper 212), and video card (560 Ti) in." Assuming your psu is the same size, it should be tight but doable - I'd be inclined to go for a slightly roomier case myself.Review my %26lt;$1000 Gaming Rig please?
When building a gaming computer it would be wise to go on the more expensive side. less than 1000 will run alot of games on max but will not have a very long life of being good. to address your parts 8GB of RAM is plenty and since you are getting 2 sticks of 4 you will have room to add more if necessary. and yes that is good ram as far as i know. it is ddr3 which is what your are looking for. The hard drive will give you plenty of memory and i happen to have one and it works great. for the processor i have a i7 but my friend has a i5 and his i would say almost matches mine. the antec 300 is a good case too, myn is the more expensive version but id say a 300 is plenty good. For the motherboard is asrock which is the cheaper version of asus which i wish i could have gotten but wasnt avalible at the time, but otherwise i dont know a wholde lot about motherboard but that looks good. 520 watts for the PSU i believe would be enough for that. Now finally for the GPU, i would HIGHLY suggest a nividia Geforce model GPU, everyone i know has them and no complaints on them. A gtx 570 is expensive but i would say you should jump for it because you will notice the difference.

Sorry for the long read but i hope that will help you out or at least reinforce someone elses answer

It's a good PC overall, but EXTREMELY overkill for Starcraft 2. To obtain max settings, you could use 4 GB of RAM, an HD 5770, and an i3 dual core. Quad core is not necessary for SC2 because it can only utilize two cores in-game.

    Very nice computer.

On my top 15 list here is the top 4 The 6950 might be just a little better. as you can see on the list.

    1. Nvidia GeForce GTX 570

    2. AMD Radeon HD 6970

    3. AMD Radeon HD 6950

    4. Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti

I set out to build me a kind of super computer not necessarily for games but just a good computer. I am not a gamer even though it will play all the games.

I set my budget at 900 when I finished my build it was 1664 LOL Good luck.

  • Must have Xbox 360 titles?

I havent owned a 360 in a few years now so I am pretty far out of the loop. Titles that I have played would include games like Mass Effect (the first, not the second) Borderlands, Fable II, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Prototype, Halo 3, and Oblivion. Outside of those I haven't played much else. Games made since I had sold mine were spent on friends boxes, etc.

At any rate, I've looked up reviews on a ton of games and although I find a few re-occurring titles, I am still unconvinced that they are worth my money. I see no reason to waste money on games like CoD or Halo Reach solely for the solo play, and I absolutely refuse to deal with prepubescent kids and their squeeky voices via online modes. All genres are open as I have no particular interest in say FPS over RPGs. I am alot more open to multiple genres than I am towards kids who abuse words that they don't even understand.

Right now I am looking at Dragon Age II, Crysis 2, Red Dead Redemption, Gears of War 1 and 2, the Assasins Creed series, and Batman Arkham Asylum.

Just some suggestions is all I'm looking for. Thanks.Must have Xbox 360 titles?
Mass Effect 2 is a brilliant game and a wonderful follow up to the first game, Red Dead Redemption is definitely a must as it has a great story and many side quests to keep you occupied for at least 40 hours. Arkham Asylum is a very good game in all respects, along with the Gears of War series, in my opinion one of the finest game worlds that has been created. I would recommend Halo: Reach, it's a wonderfully beautiful, well written game to finish off one of the finest series' ever made. Also the Assassins Creed games are just superb, every single one of them is better than the last but they're all very well made. Hope this helps
